Medial Rotation Knee™ Philosophy Caught in the Crossfire During CCJR 2016!

Medial Rotation Knee™ Philosophy Caught in the Crossfire During CCJR 2016!

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

The Current Concepts in Joint Replacement (CCJR) winter meeting takes place on 14 – 17 December in Orlando, Florida. Mike Tuke and Scott Booth will be in attendance along with representatives from distributors MedTechDirect and High Ground Medical, Inc. who will join us at our exhibition stand.

We are excited to confirm that once again our medial ball-and-socket philosophy will be discussed on the podium as amongst other sessions, Professor Fares S. Haddad (UCL, London) will be facing Dr Chitranjan S. Ranawat (Lennox Hill Hospital, New York) in an engaging session called “Orthopaedic Crossfire V: Still More Controversies in Knee Arthroplasty”. The session will be held in the main auditorium on Saturday morning (17 December 2016).

The statement being contested is “The medially stabilised knee: The "Post-Cam‟ replacement”, with Professor Haddad affirming and Dr Ranawat opposing.

This is a real opportunity to hear from two leading proponents of the philosophies - one born in the UK (medial ball-and-socket, AKA medially stabilised) and one in the US (posterior stabilised, AKA post-cam). If you have ever heard Mike Tuke‟s presentation on “A Parallel Universe”, this may be a familiar topic!

The medially stabilised knee is not only one step ahead of the post-cam concept in that it provides posterior and anterior stabilisation; it also provides the natural asymmetry necessary for full-ROM stability without compromise to the range of motion. At his own London Knee Meeting earlier this year, Professor Haddad confirmed his belief that medially stabilised knees may be a better option for cases where post-cam devices were routinely selected for their perceived stability. He will be using his experience and results of the MRK™ and SAIPH® Knees to support his case.

We hope the team have a great meeting and look forward to receiving their feedback. More information on the event, along with the programme can be found on the website:
